ABOUT BIRTH MANIFESTA

Birth Manifesta, LLC launched in February 2020 during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Recognizing the need for community in birthwork as a means of sustainability and a holistic model of care, Founder, Tanzye Hill, began crafting a decolonized space to collaborate with other social-justice centered educators, advocates, mental health providers, and healers.

We are a black woman-owned small business committed to providing full spectrum doula support to birthing families. Focused on reducing the black maternal and infant mortality rates in the Nashville community, our holistic model is rooted in generational healing with a focus on mental and emotional wellness before, during, and after pregnancy. Through healing centered (i.e. trauma-informed) education and culturally competent advocacy, Birth Manifesta prioritizes centering the voices and choices of birthing families and protecting the maternal memory of mamas.

Founder, Mentoring Doula, Holistic Educator/Trauma Informed Advocate

“Welcome to Birth Manifesta!!!

I’m Tanzye, an educator, advocate, and mentor committed to restoring the wholeness of individuals and communities by creating safe spaces and encouraging others to trust their voice.

I answered my ancestral calling as a Doula 8 years ago after the birth of my niece London. While we are thankful that the outcome was a healthy mama and healthy baby, the experience left my sister, Paris, with a memory of voicelessness. It was this experience that imprinted in me the significance of women supporting women during the sacred transition into motherhood and protecting the maternal memory.

I believe Wombyn are the crux of the community and it is our responsibility to nurture and protect them physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually at all times. It is through them that all life passes, therefore, we must center their voices and choices and provide safety for the manifestation of all that they desire to birth.”

Full Spectrum Doula + Marriage and Family Therapist (under clinical supervision)

“I am Chemyeeka, a lover of people, empath and vessel for love, strength and words when needed. My passion and purpose collide at my desire and will to assist individuals and families in changing the generational narratives that hinder them from being their true selves. I was drawn to the work of Full Spectrum Doula care through my understanding that in life we all give birth. Sometimes that birth is natural and at other times spiritual but no matter the context compassion, companionship and understanding is what’s needed to ensure we birth in love and not take on hate.”

Doula Apprentice + Mental Health Advocate + Researcher

I’m Hope, a student, mental health advocate, and researcher. I am currently a Biology major at one of Nashville’s HBCUs, Fisk University. I am studying to become a genetic counselor with a specialization in prenatal health, as well as a part-time doula. I am passionate about working in the Black community, specifically in service to Black women, and I aspire to center my work around decreasing the maternal mortality rate among Black women in America. I am currently curating spaces where Black women feel free to exist beyond the physical, social, political, emotional, and spiritual boundaries placed upon them.
